ANRF Selects 7 e-Nodes Under MAHA-EV Mission to Drive India's Electric Mobility Innovation
May 06, 2025
The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), a statutory body of the Government of India, has selected seven electric mobility nodes (e-Nodes) under its Mission for Advancement of High-impact Areas on Electric Vehicles (MAHA-EV). The initiative is designed to catalyse innovation and overcome key technological challenges in India’s growing electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem.
The mission focuses on three Technological Verticals (TVs): Tropical EV Battery and Battery Cells (TV-I), Power Electronics, Machines, and Drives (TV-II), and EV Charging Infrastructure (TV-III). The selected e-Nodes will operate in a consortia mode, combining the expertise of academic institutions, R&D labs, and industry partners.
The selected e-Nodes are led by prominent institutions including IIT Bombay, ARCI Hyderabad, NIT Surathkal, IIT Kanpur, IIT-BHU, CSIR-CEERI Pilani, and IIT Kharagpur. Out of 227 consortia proposals received nationwide, two e-Nodes will focus on TV-I, three on TV-II, and two on TV-III.
The MAHA-EV Mission aims to establish India as a global leader in EV technologies, aligning with national goals of sustainability, innovation, and Atmanirbhar Bharat. It reflects growing enthusiasm among stakeholders and lays the foundation for next-generation EV research, manufacturing, and deployment.
