Premier Energies Achieves Strong Q3 Performance with Record Profits and Expansion Plans

Feb 04, 2025

Premier Energies, a leading solar module and cell manufacturer, reported impressive financial results for the third quarter (Q3) of the financial year 2025. The company posted a total income of Rs17.49 billion in the same quarter of the previous year. This significant rise in income reflects the company’s growing market presence and its successful expansion strategies.

The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) surged by 337.76% YoY to Rs5.49 billion last year. Premier Energies’ quarterly net profit also skyrocketed, increasing by 490.58% YoY to Rs2.55 billion. This strong performance resulted in an earnings per share (EPS) of Rs5.66 in Q3 of FY24, highlighting the company’s overall growth trajectory.

As of December 2024, Premier Energies reported a robust order book of 4,539 MW worth Rs69.46 billion, with solar modules making up 63% of this total and solar cells comprising 36%. This solid order book reflects strong demand for the company’s solar products. Furthermore, the company has ambitious expansion plans, including increasing its solar cell manufacturing capacity from 2 GW to 7 GW by Q1 FY27 and expanding its solar module manufacturing capacity from 4.1 GW to 9.1 GW by Q4 FY26.

For the first nine months of FY25 (9M FY25), Premier Energies continued to report strong growth, with total revenues reaching Rs49.72 billion during the same period in FY24. The company’s EBITDA for the 9M period also saw a significant rise of 329.39% YoY to Rs13.26 billion. Net profits for the 9M period amounted to Rs6.59 billion in the previous year.

Despite its strong financial performance, Premier Energies has encountered some challenges related to its expansion in the U.S. market. The company’s plans to set up a 1.2 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in the United States are under review due to policy uncertainties in the U.S. solar market. Premier Energies clarified that no formal negotiations had taken place with its U.S. partner, Helaine USA, concerning this matter. The company also has plans to set up a 2 GW wafer manufacturing plant, which is expected to begin operations in FY 2026. In December 2024, Premier Energies announced the establishment of a 1 GW tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) solar module manufacturing facility in Telangana, India. This new facility is expected to be completed by March 2025. Additionally, Premier Energies invested Rs4.83 billion to establish a 1.5 GW plant in Hyderabad, focusing on manufacturing advanced MonoPERC technology cells using larger wafers.
