CERC Approves Rs2.6/kWh Tariff for SECI’s 900 MW Solar Projects

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has approved a tariff of Rs2.6/kWh for 900 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power projects (Tranche- XI). SECI initially invited bids for 2,000 MW, awarding 600 MW and 500 MW in prior approvals.

The Commission adopted the balance 600 MW tariff without waiting for full capacity tie-up. CERC ruled that if SECI does not provide an escrow arrangement or an irrevocable letter of credit, the trading margin should be capped at Rs0.02/kWh. In November 2024, CERC approved tariffs of Rs2.51 to Rs2.53/kWh for SJVN’s 1,450 MW ISTS solar projects.
