Mar 26, 2025
As of March 19, 2025, Gujarat is at the forefront of India’s residential solar revolution under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, with 4,04,464 households (38.8%) adopting rooftop solar. Maharashtra follows with 2,47,610 households (23.75%), and Uttar Pradesh has 95,842 households (9.19%). Kerala (80,856 households, 7.76%) and Rajasthan (33,872 households, 3.25%) have also made significant progress. Other states collectively account for 1,79,776 households (17.25%).
Key Factors Driving Adoption:
- Zero Electricity Bills: Households benefit from free solar-generated power.
- Easy Financing: Subsidized loans and government incentives make solar adoption affordable.
- Swift Subsidy Disbursement: Faster processing encourages participation.
The program is accelerating India’s transition to clean energy, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and empowering households to achieve energy self-sufficiency. With growing participation, a greener and more sustainable India is emerging!
