Hindustan Power Secures 100 MW Solar + 200 MWh BESS Project from SJVN

Jul 02, 2025

Hindustan Power has been awarded a 100 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar project integrated with a 200 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) by SJVN Ltd., a Navratna CPSE. The project was secured via tariff-based competitive bidding and a successful e-Reverse Auction. It is part of SJVN's broader initiative to develop 1,200 MW of solar PV projects with 600 MW/2,400 MWh of energy storage capacity across India.

While the contracted capacity is 100 MW, the actual installed capacity will be higher to ensure all-day power supply and battery charging for peak-hour demand. The integrated BESS will offer four hours of energy dispatch during peak periods, supporting grid resilience and load balancing. This firm and dispatchable power supply model is backed by a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

Chairman Ratul Puri emphasized that the project will significantly contribute to India’s energy transition by providing clean, reliable power even during non-solar hours. The project is expected to enhance grid stability, manage energy shifting, and strengthen Hindustan Power’s position in the renewable energy and storage domain.
