India’s Ground-Mounted Solar Installations Reach 80.9 GW, Led by Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Karnataka
Apr 03, 2025
India’s ground-mounted solar capacity reached 80,879 MW as of December 2024, growing at a 20?GR since 2019, according to the India Solar Map report by CRISIL. The top three states—Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Karnataka—accounted for 56% of the total installed capacity.
In 2024, Adani, Jinko, Sungrow, and Adani emerged as key players in project development, module supply, inverter supply, and EPC services, respectively. The Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) capacity stood at 63,207 MW, with Waaree leading as the top module manufacturer.
The average EPC costs for utility-scale solar projects varied based on component sourcing, with INR 25.1/Wp for projects using imported cells and INR 33.8/Wp for projects using India-made cells.
Among developers, Adani led with a portfolio of 21,653 MW, followed by Avaada and NTPC. The report also highlights trends in solar allocations and the competitive landscape within India’s utility-scale solar sector.
