Jinko ESS and METLEN Sign Landmark 3GWh BESS Framework Agreement

Jun 28, 2025

Jinko ESS and METLEN have signed a major framework agreement to deploy over 3 GWh of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across Chile and key European markets. The agreement was formalized at METLEN’s headquarters in Athens, building on their existing 1.6 GWh project in Chile, which features Jinko ESS’s advanced G2 Utility systems scheduled for full delivery by Q4 2025.

This strategic partnership aligns Jinko ESS’s rapid growth in the global BESS sector with METLEN Group’s ambition to be a leading enabler of the global energy transition. The agreement aims to address grid stability needs while ensuring long-term supply security for major renewable energy projects.

Jinko ESS CEO Fangkai Zhou and Nikos Papapetrou, Executive Director of METLEN’s M Renewables division, emphasized the synergy between Jinko’s cutting-edge storage technologies and METLEN’s energy infrastructure expertise. METLEN, with a 12.7 GW global renewable pipeline—including 2.6 GW in energy storage—continues to scale its role in green energy leadership.

The partnership is a significant step in deploying resilient, large-scale storage infrastructure and reinforces both firms’ commitment to accelerating clean energy adoption and grid flexibility in emerging and mature markets.
