MIEPL Secures SECI Project to Install 4.125 MW Rooftop and Ground-Mounted Solar at IIT Kharagpur

Apr 30, 2025

Multi Infrastructure & Engineering Pvt. Ltd. (MIEPL) has won the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) auction to install a 4.125 MW solar power system at IIT Kharagpur in West Bengal. The project, tendered in December 2024, must be completed within 270 days. It comprises 2,900 kW rooftop, 1,000 kW ground-mounted, and 225 kW elevated structure installations.

All modules must be sourced from the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM). The grid-connected rooftop systems will include solar arrays, inverters with maximum power point trackers (MPPT), and complete electrical safety components, without batteries. MIEPL is also responsible for 25 years of operations and maintenance (O&M).

The solar modules must retain at least 90?ficiency after 10 years and 80?ter 25 years, with RFID tagging mandatory for each module. Penalties will be imposed if energy delivery falls short—50% of the tariff as liquidated damages. SECI requires the use of proven, commercially established technologies to mitigate risk and ensure timely execution. This project is part of a broader effort by SECI to deploy rooftop solar in educational institutions, including a 6.25 MW RfS and 4.55 MW EPC tenders across multiple states.
