Prostarm to Set Up Rs25 Cr BESS Manufacturing Facility in Haryana to Tap India’s Energy Storage Boom
Jul 09, 2025
Mumbai-based Prostarm Info Systems is entering the battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing segment with plans to establish a 1.2 GWh facility at Reliance MET City in Jhajjar, Haryana. The company has secured a nine-year lease on a 3,912 sq. meter land parcel with a 34,000 sq. ft. shed area. With a planned capex of Rs25 crore, the facility will include advanced plant machinery, HVAC systems, and infrastructure to support high-end integration and assembly. The facility is expected to be commissioned by FY 2026.
The new plant will cater to both Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and utility-scale segments. CEO Ram Agarwal stated that the expansion aligns with Prostarm’s core power electronics expertise and positions the company among India’s few OEMs in the BESS space. Prostarm already has orders, including a 22 MWh project for Adani Electricity Mumbai (Rs52 crore) and a 120 MWh BOOT-based order from Bihar State Power Generation Company.
With India targeting over 44 GW of BESS by 2030, Prostarm’s move taps into a market expected to reach 66 GW by 2032. Falling lithium-ion battery costs, increasing demand for grid stability, and C&I shift from diesel gensets to clean storage are key growth drivers for BESS adoption.
