SECI Partners with Ministry of Culture for Rooftop Solar Under PM Surya Ghar Yojana

Mar 07, 2025

Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, to install grid-connected rooftop solar systems across various government-owned buildings. This initiative falls under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, a flagship program aimed at promoting solar adoption in residential and institutional sectors.

The MoU was officially signed on March 6, 2025, by Shri Manas Ranjan Mishra, Head of Department (Solar) at SECI, and Shri Gurmeet Singh Chawla, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Culture. This collaboration highlights the government's commitment to integrating clean energy solutions into public infrastructure.

Through such initiatives, SECI continues to drive India’s transition to sustainable energy by utilizing available rooftop spaces for solar power generation. The project will contribute to reducing carbon footprints, lowering electricity costs for government buildings, and supporting India’s broader renewable energy goals.

This partnership reinforces India’s push toward a greener future while aligning with national commitments to sustainability and energy independence.
