Smart Roof Solar and Gourav EnerGen Win POWERGRID Auction for Rooftop Solar Under PM Surya Ghar Scheme
May 06, 2025
Smart Roof Solar Solutions and Gourav EnerGen India have emerged as winners in Power Grid Corporation of India’s (POWERGRID) auction to install 3 MW of rooftop solar systems on government buildings in western India. The tender, issued in February 2025 under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, awarded each company 1 MW at a contract value of Rs3.68 crore. The remaining 1 MW will be allocated to other qualified bidders, including Suncraft Energy, Sunshell Power, and Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments.
The auction covers rooftop installations across Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Maharashtra, Goa, and Chhattisgarh. Under the contract, companies will supply, install, and commission the solar systems, including a three-phase net meter or, if required, a reverse power flow scheme or zero export controller at no extra cost. The project completion deadline is six months from the work order date, with a mandatory five-year operations and maintenance period.
The PM Surya Ghar program aims to solarize all central and state government buildings by December 2025, with a broader goal to expand residential rooftop capacity by 2026–27. POWERGRID is actively advancing renewable projects and recently secured letters of intent for Rs10,750 crore in transmission projects.
