Tata Elxsi and Infineon Partner to Develop Application-Ready EV Solutions for India

Tata Elxsi and Infineon Technologies have signed an MoU to co-develop application-ready electric vehicle (EV) solutions tailored for India’s dynamic market. This collaboration comes as EV sales surged 25–30% year-on-year in 2024, including a 28% rise in electric two- and three-wheelers.

The partnership will integrate Tata Elxsi’s strengths in system design, integration, and validation with Infineon’s cutting-edge semiconductor technologies—including SiC-based components, microcontrollers, and ICs. The joint effort aims to deliver safety-compliant (ASIL-D/ISO 26262) and cost-effective subsystems to accelerate EV adoption in 2W, 3W, passenger (PV), and commercial vehicle (CV) segments.

Key solutions under development include high-voltage traction and auxiliary inverters, scalable battery management systems (BMS), bi-directional onboard chargers, and thermal management systems. The partners also plan to explore future applications in eVTOL, energy storage, and off-highway vehicles.

This initiative supports India’s national electrification goals led by NITI Aayog—targeting 80% EV penetration in 2W/3W and 70% in CVs by 2030. Tata Elxsi emphasized that its current EV platforms already use Infineon semiconductors and that this deeper collaboration will reduce time-to-market and enhance compliance with global automotive standards.
