UGVCL Crosses 100 MW Milestone Under PM-KUSUM Component-C

Apr 26, 2025

The Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd. (UGVCL) has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 100 MW of solar capacity under the PM-KUSUM Component-C Feeder Level Solarization Scheme. On this occasion, UGVCL successfully commissioned a new 6.000 MW solar plant at the 66KV HMT-2 Substation, which will supply reliable day-time electricity to farmers, reducing their dependence on conventional power sources.

This marks the commissioning of UGVCL’s 37th solar plant, taking the total installed capacity under this initiative to 103.026 MW. The Component-C of PM-KUSUM (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan) aims to solarize agriculture feeders, enabling uninterrupted solar power supply to the agricultural sector during the day, while also reducing the distribution company's subsidy burden.

UGVCL’s success is a clear example of how feeder-level solarization is being effectively implemented at scale, aligning with India’s broader goal of expanding decentralized renewable energy access. The solarization of agriculture feeders not only enhances grid reliability and power quality for farmers but also supports the shift toward cleaner energy systems.

This milestone reaffirms UGVCL’s commitment to renewable energy adoption and showcases Gujarat's leadership in sustainable agricultural power solutions.
