ACEN and UPC Begin Construction on 540 MW Renewable Projects in India

Jul 10, 2025

ACEN and UPC Renewables have begun construction on two major renewable energy projects in India, totaling 540 MW. This includes a 420 MW solar plant in Barmer, Rajasthan, and a 120 MW wind farm in Karnataka. The combined portfolio is expected to generate 1,158 GWh of clean electricity annually by early 2027.

The Barmer solar project, situated in a region known for high solar irradiance, will alone produce approximately 767 GWh annually. Meanwhile, the Karnataka wind project, taking advantage of strong wind conditions and favorable terrain, is estimated to deliver 391 GWh annually.

These developments reinforce both companies' long-term commitment to India's clean energy transition. Earlier this year, UPC Renewables secured 100 MW at a tariff of Rs3.99/kWh in SJVN’s 600 MW wind power auction, floated in March 2024. The wind plant forms part of this allocation.

These projects will contribute significantly to India’s renewable energy targets, while also enhancing energy security and reducing emissions through diversified clean energy sources.
