ACEN and UPC Renewables to Develop 500+ MW Clean Energy Projects in India

Jul 09, 2025

ACEN, in partnership with UPC Renewables, has announced the development of over 500 MW of new green energy projects across Rajasthan and Karnataka, with commissioning expected by early 2027. The collaboration includes a 420 MW solar farm in Barmer, Rajasthan, known for its high solar irradiance, and a 120 MW wind project in Karnataka.

Together, the projects are expected to generate 1,158 GWh of clean electricity annually—enough to power an estimated 241,000 homes—and will help avoid more than 876,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year. Patrice Clausse, CEO of ACEN International and Group Chief Investment Officer, emphasized the significance of the companies' long-term partnership in deploying capital across high-potential markets like India.

This announcement reflects continued momentum in India’s utility-scale renewable energy sector, especially in states like Rajasthan and Karnataka that offer favorable resource conditions and infrastructure. The ACEN–UPC collaboration reinforces their strategic focus on sustainable energy expansion aligned with India’s decarbonization targets.
