ACME Wins SECI Tender to Supply 75,000 MT Green Ammonia at Rs55.7/kg Under SIGHT Scheme
Aug 08, 2025
ACME Cleantech Solutions has emerged as the successful bidder in the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) auction to supply 75,000 metric tons (MT) of green ammonia annually to 12 fertilizer plants under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) program (Mode-2A-Tranche-I). The winning tariff was Rs55.7/kg, a significant cost drop compared to the previous $1,153/MT price discovered in earlier tenders. The new rate—approximately $641/MT—is fixed for 10 years, offering a compelling economic case for fertilizer manufacturers to begin their green transition.
The 10-year agreement requires ACME to handle all aspects of production and delivery, including land acquisition, project construction, approvals, storage, and logistics. The green ammonia will be delivered to Paradeep Phosphates in Odisha. While trading or arbitrage is not allowed, ACME may fulfill up to 10% of the annual supply from third-party or alternative sources.
Green ammonia must be produced using renewable energy, which can be sourced from co-located or remote projects. The energy generation can either be owned by ACME or third parties, or procured from power exchanges.
This award is part of a larger tender aiming to secure 724,000 MT of green ammonia annually through 13 auctions. The initiative is backed by the National Green Hydrogen Mission, which was approved by the Union Cabinet in 2023 with a total budget of Rs197.44 billion is allocated for the SIGHT program, while the remainder supports pilot projects, R&D, and other mission components.
This tender marks a key milestone in India’s green hydrogen roadmap and sets a new benchmark for green ammonia pricing, enhancing long-term visibility and commercial viability for industrial offtakers.
