Adani Energy Solutions Secures INR 1,660 Crore Transmission Project in Maharashtra
Jun 02, 2025
Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. (AESL) has won a major inter-state transmission project in Maharashtra worth INR 1,660 crore. The project involves building transmission infrastructure including substations with a capacity of 3,000 Mega Volt-Amperes (MVA). Once completed, AESL’s total transmission network will reach 26,696 circuit kilometers and 93,236 MVA of transformation capacity.
This project, managed through a special company called WRNES Talegaon Power Transmission Ltd., will help evacuate 1.5 gigawatts (GW) of green power from upcoming hydro Pumped Storage Projects (PSP) in the region. This green power will support electricity demand in Mumbai and nearby areas.
The project was officially handed over to AESL on May 30, 2025, and is expected to be commissioned by January 2028. AESL won this contract through a competitive bidding process called Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB). The bid was coordinated by REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd. (RECPDCL).
This project is a significant step toward strengthening Maharashtra’s power transmission infrastructure and supporting clean energy integration into the grid.
