Adani Green Energy Commissions 50 MW Solar Project in Khavda, Gujarat, Expanding Operational Capacity to 16.73 GW
Oct 17, 2025
Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has announced the commissioning of a new 50 MW solar power project at Khavda, Gujarat, through its wholly-owned stepdown subsidiary, Adani Green Energy Twenty Six A. With this addition, AGEL’s total operational renewable energy capacity has reached 16,729.80 MW.
According to the company’s regulatory filing, the decision to operationalize the plant was taken at 1:34 p.m. on October 15, 2025, following receipt of all necessary clearances, and power generation commenced the next day.
Adani Green Energy is currently developing what is set to become the world’s largest renewable energy park at Khavda in Kutch, Gujarat. Spanning 538 square kilometers — nearly five times the size of Paris — the 30,000 MW project will be visible from space and will stand as the largest power generation facility across all energy sources once completed.
Earlier this year, in May 2025, AGEL signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) to supply 400 MW of solar power at Rs 2.57 per unit from a grid-connected project in Rajasthan. Similarly, in April 2025, its subsidiary Adani Hydro Energy Five entered into another PPA with UPPCL for 1,250 MW of pumped hydro energy storage capacity.
AGEL currently develops, owns, and operates utility-scale grid-connected solar, wind, hybrid, and pumped hydro energy storage projects across 12 Indian states. The company reported a 30% year-on-year increase in operational capacity during FY25.
Looking ahead, Adani Green Energy plans to scale its renewable portfolio to 50 GW by 2030, supported by a $3.4 billion revolving construction facility. The company has already secured more than 5 GW of pumped storage project sites and is expanding its focus on the commercial, industrial, and merchant energy segments.
In its recent investor presentation, the Adani Group outlined plans to invest approximately $21 billion by FY2030 to achieve this ambitious expansion. AGEL, as the renewable energy arm of the conglomerate, will play a central role in driving this growth and reinforcing India’s leadership in the global clean energy transition.
