Adani Green Surpasses 15 GW Operational Milestone, Fastest in India’s Renewable Sector

Jul 01, 2025

Adani Green Energy Ltd. (AGEL) has become the first Indian renewable energy firm to cross 15 GW of operational capacity, reaching 15,539.9 MW. This includes 11,005.5 MW of solar, 1,977.8 MW of wind, and 2,556.6 MW of hybrid projects. The company attributes this feat—achieved through greenfield developments—to visionary leadership and strong stakeholder support.

CEO Ashish Khanna emphasized AGEL’s commitment to scaling further and reaching 50 GW by 2030, aligning with Gautam Adani’s global clean energy ambitions. The current operational capacity is enough to power 7.9 million households and could light up 13 Indian states or the entire northeast region.

This milestone aligns with AGEL's 10-year anniversary in clean energy and its ongoing development of the world’s largest renewable energy plant at Khavda in Gujarat. Spanning 538 sq km—five times the size of Paris—the 30 GW Khavda project will become the largest power plant globally, regardless of energy source. AGEL has already operationalized 5,355.9 MW at the site.

AGEL's rapid scale-up reinforces India’s leadership in clean energy deployment and reflects growing investor confidence in the sector.
