Adani Power Secures Rs10,500 Crore Project to Build 800 MW Ultra-Supercritical Plant in Madhya Pradesh

Sept 01, 2025

Adani Power Ltd., India’s largest private thermal power producer, has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from MP Power Management Company Ltd. to supply power from a new 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant in Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh. The project, costing around Rs10,500 crore, will be developed under the DBFOO (Design, Build, Finance, Own, Operate) model and commissioned within 54 months.

Adani Power emerged among the lowest bidders with a tariff of Rs5.838/kWh in the competitive bidding process. The project will help Madhya Pradesh meet its rising power demand fueled by industrialization and urbanization, while generating 6,000–7,000 jobs during construction and about 1,000 permanent jobs once operational. Coal supply for the project has already been allocated under the Government of India’s SHAKTI Policy.

This is Adani Power’s fourth major LoA in the past 12 months, following projects in Maharashtra (6,600 MW composite order with Adani Green), Uttar Pradesh (1,600 MW), and Bihar (2,400 MW). According to CEO S.B. Khyalia, the project will provide reliable and competitively priced electricity while strengthening energy security for both Madhya Pradesh and India.
