Adani Power Targets 12,520 MW Organic Expansion by 2030 with Rs1.2 Lakh Cr Investment
Jun 27, 2025
Adani Power has announced plans for a substantial organic capacity expansion of 12,520 MW by March 2030, supported by a capital investment of Rs1.2 lakh crore. The plan includes seven ultra-supercritical projects of 2×800 MW each and one supercritical project of 2×660 MW. The company currently has 6,120 MW under construction and power purchase agreements (PPAs) for 4,520 MW. These projects will be funded using internal accruals.
In FY25, Adani Power incurred Rs8,000 crore in capital expenditure, with another Rs13,300 crore planned for FY26. Despite completing an inorganic capacity addition of 2,300 MW in FY25, the company did not install any organic capacity during the year.
The expansion includes major projects at Mahan, Raigarh, Raipur, Mirzapur, Kawai, and Korba. The company is aligning its investments to meet growing power demand and to strengthen its position in India's thermal power sector.
In comparison, Tata Power aims to double its operational capacity to 32 GW by FY30, with a majority of it coming from renewable sources. Adani Power's strategy remains focused on ultra and supercritical thermal projects to support India’s baseload energy needs.
