AM Green CEO Highlights Odisha’s Edge for India’s First GW-Scale Green Ammonia Project at GHIS 2.0
Apr 05, 2025
In a compelling conversation at the Green Hydrogen Innovation Summit (GHIS) 2.0, Gautam Reddy Kumbam, CEO of AM Green Group, offered key insights into the company’s ambitious plans to establish India’s first gigawatt-scale green ammonia project.
Speaking on the project’s strategic siting, Kumbam emphasized Odisha’s advantages, citing robust infrastructure connectivity, abundant renewable energy resources, and a unified power grid with free transmission, all of which contribute to lowering the cost of green ammonia production.
While acknowledging strong government support, he also pointed to the need for further port connectivity enhancements at other coastal locations to strengthen the green hydrogen export ecosystem.
Kumbam revealed that offtake agreements are expected to be finalized by the end of 2025, with production and initial shipments targeted for 2027. Preparatory studies, including electrolyser load optimization, are currently underway to ensure operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
The discussion provided valuable insights into India's green hydrogen roadmap and AM Green’s role in shaping a sustainable industrial future.
