Andhra Pradesh Emerges as New Solar Manufacturing Hub with Rs2,700 Cr Investment by Jupiter Renewables
May 26, 2025
Andhra Pradesh is fast becoming a major solar manufacturing hub in India, overtaking traditional leaders like Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu. A key boost comes from Kolkata-based Jupiter International, which is investing Rs2,700 crore through its subsidiary Jupiter Renewables to set up a 4.8 GW solar PV cell and 1.5 GW module manufacturing facility in Rambili, Anakapalli district. The project will be implemented in two phases, with investments of Rs1,504 crore and Rs1,196 crore respectively.
This investment aligns with a broader trend in Andhra Pradesh, which has seen heightened interest from solar manufacturers since the return of the N. Chandrababu Naidu-led government. The state is actively engaging with industry leaders like Waaree Energies, Tata Power Solar, and Vikram Solar.
Significant ongoing projects include a Rs69,000 crore investment by Indosol Solar and Premier Energies. Notably, Premier Energies is shifting its solar cell production from Telangana to Nellore, where it plans to build a 5 GW ingot and wafer facility (Rs1,742 crore) and later, an 8 GW solar cell plant with Rs4,200 crore in funding.
With these large-scale investments, Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself at the forefront of India's solar manufacturing drive, aligning with national goals for energy security and domestic production capacity under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
