APTRANSCO Issues Tender for 1,000 MW / 2,000 MWh Battery Energy Storage Projects
Aug 29, 2025
The Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (APTRANSCO) has floated a request for selection (RfS) for developing 1,000 MW / 2,000 MWh battery energy storage systems (BESS) across seven substations in the state. Bids must be submitted by September 29, 2025, and will be opened on October 6, 2025.
The projects will be developed under the build, own, and operate model through tariff-based competitive bidding with viability gap funding (VGF) support, capped at Rs1.8 million/MWh. Disbursement will take place in three phases: 20% at financial closure, 50% at commissioning, and 30?ter the first operational year.
Bidders must provide an earnest money deposit of Rs480,000/MW, a performance bank guarantee of Rs1.2 million/MW, and a bid processing fee of Rs100,000–Rs750,000 plus GST, depending on project size. Eligibility criteria include a net worth of Rs3 million/MWh and a minimum turnover of Rs6 million/MWh in FY 2024–25.
The projects, to be connected at the 33 kV level, must ensure two charge-discharge cycles daily, 95% system availability, and a round-trip efficiency of at least 85%. Commissioning is required within 18 months, extendable by six months with penalties.
This follows SECI’s recent 600 MW / 1,200 MWh BESS RfP in Andhra Pradesh, highlighting the state’s growing focus on energy storage.
