Ardian Acquires 116 MW Solar Portfolio in Italy to Expand Clean Energy Footprint
Jul 03, 2025
Private investment firm Ardian has acquired a portfolio of 117 operational solar PV plants totaling 116 MW in Italy, supported by Conto Energia feed-in tariffs. The assets, spread across various Italian regions, have over a decade of operating history and have recently been repowered with Tier 1 technology, improving performance and reliability.
The acquisition aligns with Ardian Clean Energy Evergreen Fund’s (ACEEF) strategy of investing in contracted brownfield renewable assets with long-term visibility. With this deal, ACEEF’s Italian renewable portfolio now includes over 400 MW of wind, solar, hydro, and biogas assets in operation, and an equal amount under development. Asset management will be handled by InEnergy, ACEEF’s local platform.
E2E, which managed the portfolio and led its optimization over the past three years, achieved average annual revenues of over €630,000/MW. The transaction reflects E2E’s value creation strategy and marks a successful collaboration with Ardian.
Federico Gotti Tedeschi of Ardian emphasized that this acquisition enhances geographic and technological diversification and supports long-term growth through repowering and greenfield development. Launched in 2022, ACEEF is Ardian’s first open-ended clean energy fund, committed to Article 9 of the EU SFDR, with over €1 billion raised and a focus on core and emerging renewable technologies.
