Arevon Launches One of US’s Largest Solar-Plus-Storage Projects in California
Aug 11, 2025
Arevon Energy, Inc., a US-based renewable energy developer, has officially operationalised its massive Eland Solar-plus-Storage Project in California, one of the largest facilities of its kind in the country. The project delivers 758 MWdc of solar power paired with 300 MW / 1,200 MWh of battery storage, with total capital costs exceeding USD 2 billion.
Developed in two phases — Eland 1 (operational since late 2024) and Eland 2 (recently commissioned) — the site features 1.36 million solar panels and 172 locally manufactured LFP batteries. Combined, the facility can power over 266,000 homes annually, meeting 7% of Los Angeles’ electricity needs.
The lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries can quickly supply power during peak demand, enhancing reliability during heatwaves, brownouts, and blackouts, while also offering improved safety over traditional lithium-ion technology.
California currently sources 57% of its electricity from renewables and aims for 100% clean energy by 2035. LA Mayor Karen Bass highlighted that Eland will push the city’s clean energy share above 60%, marking a significant milestone.
Arevon, which operates over 3.7 GW of renewable capacity nationwide, will supply Eland’s output to the Southern California Public Power Authority (SCPPA) under long-term agreements benefiting LADWP and GWP customers.
