Attero to Invest Rs 8,700 Cr in Expanding E-Waste and Lithium Battery Recycling Capacity
Mar 27, 2025
Attero Recycling, a leader in e-waste and lithium-ion battery recycling, is set to invest Rs8,700 crore over the next five years to expand its processing capacity to 415,000 tonnes of e-waste and 50,000 tonnes of lithium batteries per year. This expansion aligns with India’s circular economy goals and the growing demand for sustainable recycling solutions.
India, the third-largest producer of e-waste globally, generates over 3.2 million metric tonnes annually, with only 40% recycled through formal channels. To tackle this, Attero launched Selsmart, a direct-to-consumer platform for selling old electronics, and MetalMandi, an AI-powered marketplace for structured metal scrap trading.
Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling Leadership
Attero is India’s leading lithium-ion battery recycler and the only company globally to extract manganese and graphite, along with 22+ critical metals like cobalt, nickel, lithium, and copper. It operates at an industry-leading 98% metal recovery efficiency, surpassing the global average of less than 75%, while maintaining lower capital and operational costs.
Partnerships & Sustainability Initiatives
Attero partnered with the Government of India for the 2025 Green National Games, crafting 30% of medals from recycled e-waste and automotive metals. This initiative showcased recycling’s role in sustainability at large-scale events.
Future Growth & Revenue Goals
Attero aims to cross Rs17,400 crore in revenue by 2027 through aggressive capacity expansion and global partnerships. With a nationwide collection network spanning 1,400+ PIN codes, the company continues to close the loop in battery recycling while reducing reliance on virgin resources.
