Avaada and Casale to Develop India’s Largest 1,500 TPD Green Ammonia Plant in Odisha

Feb 01, 2025

Avaada Group has partnered with Swiss technology provider Casale to develop India’s largest green ammonia plant, with a capacity of 1,500 tonnes per day (TPD), in Gopalpur, Odisha. This project is a significant step toward accelerating India’s decarbonization efforts and fostering sustainable industrial growth.

The Gopalpur facility will operate entirely on renewable energy, ensuring that the ammonia production process remains carbon-free. Casale’s cutting-edge ammonia production technology will be integrated into the plant, enhancing efficiency and sustainability. By leveraging green hydrogen as a feedstock, the plant aims to produce ammonia with zero emissions, aligning with India’s broader goals of reducing dependency on fossil fuels and promoting green hydrogen adoption.

This strategic partnership between Avaada and Casale is expected to play a crucial role in India’s green hydrogen and ammonia ecosystem, catering to both domestic demand and export markets. Green ammonia is increasingly recognized as a vital component in global decarbonization strategies, particularly in industries such as fertilizers, chemicals, and shipping.

The project aligns with the Government of India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, which seeks to position India as a global leader in green hydrogen and its derivatives. The establishment of this plant in Odisha will also contribute to economic development in the region by generating employment opportunities and attracting further investments in clean energy infrastructure.

Avaada’s initiative marks a significant milestone in India’s transition to a low-carbon economy, reinforcing its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions. By collaborating with Casale, a global leader in ammonia production technology, Avaada aims to set new benchmarks in sustainable industrial practices.
