Avaada Commissions 11 Solar Projects in Maharashtra to Power Farmers
Sept 18, 2025
Avaada Group has commissioned 11 solar power projects in Yavatmal district, Maharashtra, under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) 2.0, designed to provide farmers with reliable daytime electricity for irrigation. The plants, ranging from 2 MW to 5 MW across 10 locations including Kinhi, Baldi, Dongarkharda, Bansi, Patan, and Mhasola, will collectively benefit nearly 14,900 farmers across 167 villages. By ensuring daytime power, the initiative reduces reliance on nighttime pumping, enhancing safety and productivity while lowering irrigation costs.
Vineet Mittal, Chairman of Avaada Group, emphasized that MSKVY 2.0 demonstrates how clean energy can directly uplift rural communities. Beyond irrigation benefits, the projects are expected to enable better crop planning, higher yields, and lease-based income opportunities for farmers, while also reducing diesel use and electricity costs.
Avaada is executing over 1,132 MW of solar projects across Maharashtra districts including Nashik, Pune, Sangli, Ahmednagar, and Beed. MSKVY 2.0, an expansion of the 2017 scheme, aims to solarize 30% of agricultural feeders by developing 7,000 MW of decentralized solar projects in the 0.525 MW range near high-load substations.
For the broader economy, the program eases the subsidy burden on discoms, cuts transmission losses, and supports Maharashtra’s climate commitments by displacing fossil fuel-based generation. Avaada’s work under MSKVY 2.0 complements its diversified portfolio spanning solar PV manufacturing, green hydrogen, pumped hydro, energy storage, and data centres.
