Avaada Drives Maharashtra’s Agricultural Solar Transition with 1,132 MW Under MSKVY 2.0

Jun 02, 2025

Avaada Group is playing a key role in Maharashtra’s Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY), a government initiative to transform agriculture through decentralized solar power. Launched in 2017 and scaled up as MSKVY 2.0 (Mission 2025), the program aims to solarize 30% of agricultural feeders by installing 7,000 MW of solar capacity statewide by 2025. Avaada is executing 1,132 MW (AC) across several districts, providing reliable daytime power to farmers near substations in agriculture-intensive areas.

These projects help reduce farmers’ dependence on costly diesel, improve irrigation efficiency, and boost productivity. Many farmers also benefit financially by leasing land for solar installations. The initiative generates local jobs and skills, especially for women and youth, while strengthening Maharashtra’s local solar manufacturing with around 875 MW of panels made in the state.

Avaada’s comprehensive approach includes technology deployment, community engagement, and ongoing operations and maintenance. This initiative supports India’s broader target of 500 GW non-fossil fuel energy by 2030 and exemplifies effective public-private collaboration driving sustainable rural development and climate resilience in Maharashtra’s agricultural sector.
