AYM Syntex Embraces Rooftop Solar to Cut Costs and Advance ESG Goals
Jun 09, 2025
AYM Syntex, a Mumbai-based textile manufacturer, has installed a 400 kW rooftop solar system to reduce grid electricity dependency and achieve sustainability goals. The system, equipped with net metering, is expected to generate 657,000 kWh annually, leading to savings of around Rs65 lakh. The installation meets 15% of the company’s over 3 MW power requirement.
Installed by Bengaluru’s Solar Hitech Solutions within 45 days, the project features an innovative non-penetrative mounting system using specialized adhesive on aluminum mini-rails. This design, capable of withstanding wind speeds up to 180 km/h, preserves rooftop integrity—crucial for industrial applications.
The adoption is part of a growing trend among energy-intensive industries such as textiles, chemicals, and automobiles shifting to solar to reduce costs and enhance ESG performance. AYM Syntex is also considering solar expansion at its other facilities.
India’s rooftop solar capacity reached 14.9 GW as of March 2025, with commercial and industrial (C&I) segments contributing 53%. Notably, industrial rooftop installations surged 53% and commercial by 25% in Q1 2025.
