BPCL Partners with Volks Energie to Launch India’s First Solar Plant with Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Battery Storage for Oil and Gas Pipelines

Jan 21, 2025

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has teamed up with Volks Energie to develop India's first solar power plant equipped with Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for oil and gas pipelines. The project will be implemented at 14 strategic locations across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Volks Energie will deploy a total battery capacity of 1.6 MWh, with Engineers India Limited providing consultancy services. The use of LFP batteries ensures enhanced safety, longer lifespan, and higher energy density than traditional batteries. Additionally, the system will be fitted with advanced safety features, including automatic fire suppression, to protect sensitive equipment at the pipeline stations.

Volks Energie is a leading provider of energy storage, HVAC, and solar energy solutions in India, offering a range of products, including Ni-Cd batteries, lithium-ion batteries, battery chargers, and scalable solar energy solutions for industrial applications.
