BrightNight Spins Off APAC Arm as 'Yanara' to Spearhead Regional Clean Energy Growth

BrightNight, a US-based renewable energy company, has spun off its Asia-Pacific operations into a newly formed independent entity, Yanara, signaling a strategic shift aimed at enhancing regional focus and accelerating the deployment of large-scale solar, wind, and storage projects. The rebranding aligns with the group’s vision to localize operations, deepen stakeholder engagement, and build resilient clean energy ecosystems across diverse APAC markets.
Yanara will operate independently across India, Australia, the Philippines, Singapore, and the Netherlands, led by Founder Martin Hermann and CEO Jerome Ortiz. With over 5 GW in development and a target to achieve multi-gigawatt operational capacity by 2030, Yanara positions itself as a next-generation, AI-native renewable enterprise, offering firm, dispatchable energy solutions that go beyond intermittent generation.
In India, Yanara is developing a 115 MW hybrid wind-solar facility in Maharashtra and has secured a 110 MW PPA with NTPC under a 3 GW storage-linked renewable tender. In Australia, it is constructing the 660 MW Mortlake Energy Hub, combining solar and battery storage in one of the country's largest such ventures. Meanwhile, in the Philippines, Yanara is pioneering a utility-scale solar project in Sual—a traditionally coal-dominant region.
The new entity promises to "think local and move fast," leveraging AI and cognitive technologies to enhance energy reliability and grid integration. Yanara also maintains a strategic partnership with ACEN for ongoing projects in India and the Philippines and remains majority-owned by Hermann.
Yanara’s formation comes amid surging energy demand and intensifying net-zero targets across Asia-Pacific. With an agile, tech-driven, and regionally tailored approach, the company aims not only to expand capacity but to redefine clean energy delivery in the APAC region.
