C&I Stakeholders Urged to Act Fast and Strategically in Adopting Solar Energy Solutions

Apr 29, 2025

India-hosted Clean Energy Meet in Mumbai, industry experts from Enrich Energy, GSE Renewables, and Swelect Energy highlighted the significant cost-saving potential and sustainability benefits of adopting solar energy for commercial and industrial (C&I) users. Discussions centered around choosing between rooftop and open-access solar solutions, and the need for timely decision-making in the face of fluctuating module prices and tightening grid availability.

Enrich Energy’s Santosh Mahadik noted that electricity bill savings are the primary driver for C&I adoption, though connectivity, land, and technology selection must also be weighed. GSE Renewables’ Rajiv Singh emphasized that rooftop solar becomes a capital-generating asset with a quick payback and improves ESG ratings under growing global scrutiny.

Experts urged C&I consumers to act quickly, citing future grid saturation—especially in states like Rajasthan—and evolving policy landscapes that could affect project costs and feasibility. Swelect Energy’s Vikas Upadhyay cautioned that delay may lead to missed savings and connectivity issues.

Panelists explained that rooftop systems are more affordable and suitable for smaller capacities (e.g., <1>

The session also included insights from financiers and solution providers on accessing green loans, further enabling solar adoption for C&I consumers.
