Canadian Solar &Aypa Power Secure 1.8GWh BESS Projects to Boost Grid Stability
Mar 12, 2025
Canadian Solar Inc.'s e-Storage has signed battery supply and long-term service agreements for two large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects developed by Aypa Power in ERCOT (Texas) and California.
Project Highlights
- California: 160MW / 806MWh BESS
- Texas: 200MW / 998MWh BESS
- Technology: SolBank 3.0 containers with LFP battery technology
- Construction Timeline: Q3 2025
- Operations & Maintenance: e-Storage to oversee for 20 years
Additionally, GridStor has secured $74 million in financing from First Citizens Bank for its 220MW / 440MWh Hidden Lakes BESS in Texas. The project is expected to create 100+ construction jobs and enhance grid reliability.
Why This Matters
- Strengthening Renewable Integration: BESS plays a crucial role in balancing intermittent solar and wind energy.
- Major Investments in Storage: Increased financing highlights growing confidence in battery storage as a critical grid asset.
- Grid Resilience & Sustainability: These projects will help stabilize energy supply and support a low-carbon future.
With energy storage gaining momentum, these investments mark a significant step toward grid reliability and renewable energy expansion.
