Delhi Government to Offer EV Subsidies and Strengthen Pollution Control Measures

Jun 02, 2025

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the Delhi government will introduce subsidies to encourage electric vehicle (EV) adoption as part of a new EV policy. The goal is to convert all vehicles in Delhi, including private ones, to electric, helping reduce air pollution in the city.

At the Aironomics 2025 convention, Gupta also outlined several other pollution control measures. These include deploying 1,000 water sprinklers throughout the year to reduce dust and scheduling their use during early mornings and late nights to avoid traffic disruption. The government plans to install integrated machines that combine road sweeping, water sprinkling, and litter collection in all 70 Assembly constituencies.

Gupta urged citizens to support efforts such as preventing biomass burning, increasing green cover, and adopting EVs, emphasizing that clean air is a shared responsibility.

Other experts at the event stressed the importance of better coordination between central and state governments to address pollution. The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) Chairman highlighted the need for affordable, real-time pollution monitoring systems to allow quick actions when pollution levels rise. Overall, these initiatives aim to create a cleaner and healthier environment for Delhi’s residents.
