DVC Floats Tender for 14 MW Floating Solar Project at Mejia Thermal Plant

Sept 02, 2025

The Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) has invited bids to set up a 14 MW floating solar project on the raw water reservoir at its Mejia Thermal Power Station in Bankura, West Bengal. The last date for bid submission is September 4, 2025, with opening scheduled for September 5. The project must be commissioned within seven months of the letter of award (LoA) or work order.

The selected bidder will handle the design, engineering, erection, testing, and commissioning of the plant, along with providing operation and maintenance (O&M) services for 12 months. The scope also includes manufacturing, supplying, transporting, and installing equipment and mandatory spares, with a 12-month warranty on all supplied and installed materials.

Bidders must submit a performance security of 3% of the contract value within 21 days of LoA, while delays will incur a penalty of 0.5% per week, capped at 5% of the total order value. DVC has recently been active in scaling up renewables, with tenders for 250 MW/500 MWh battery storage in Jharkhand, 234 MW floating solar at Maithon Dam, and a 288 MW floating solar project at Konar Dam.

This project underlines DVC’s growing focus on floating solar and energy storage, contributing to India’s renewable energy goals.
