DVC Partners with SJVN to Source Hydropower for a Greener Grid

Apr 30, 2025

Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) has entered into Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with SJVN Limited to source hydropower from the Sunni Dam and Luhri Stage-I Hydro Projects. This move marks a strategic step toward strengthening the region’s power infrastructure with a focus on sustainability. By bringing clean hydropower into its energy mix, DVC aims to ensure more reliable and stable electricity supply, especially during peak demand hours. This is particularly important for supporting ongoing and future industrial development in the Damodar Valley region.

Incorporating hydropower into the grid also enhances overall grid performance and reduces dependency on fossil fuels, contributing to India’s larger renewable energy goals. The collaboration is not limited to SJVN; DVC has also recently signed similar agreements with NHPC, showcasing its broader intent to diversify its power sources and increase the share of renewables in its portfolio.

This series of agreements underlines DVC's mission to power regional progress while keeping environmental sustainability at its core. With hydropower now playing a key role, DVC is positioning itself as a forward-looking utility focused on clean, affordable, and stable energy for the future.
