Evergreen Power Appoints Receiver in Mauritius Amid Project Commitments in India

Aug 07, 2025

Evergreen Power, a private equity-backed renewable energy company with operations in India, has appointed BDO as a receiver in Mauritius, according to people familiar with the matter. The Mauritius-based entity has been used to route capital into Evergreen Power’s Indian operations. In Mauritius, receivers are typically brought in when creditors raise financial claims against a company.

While the company has declined to comment directly on the matter, it stated that it remains committed to developing and executing clean energy projects in India. Evergreen Power is currently handling renewable energy projects totaling 1,400 MW, including 650 MW in Tamil Nadu, 500 MW in Gujarat, and 250 MW in Karnataka, for major state-backed agencies such as SECI, NTPC, and SJVN. Indian banks have reportedly issued bank guarantees for these projects.

Founded in 2012, Evergreen Power has dual headquarters in Mumbai and Chicago. It started its renewable journey in 2016 with a 23 MW solar PV project in Telangana in partnership with Hilliard Energy (USA). The company is active in solar, wind, and hybrid energy projects and has competed with major players like Adani Green, Sembcorp, ReNew Power, and others. Evergreen is backed by UK-based Devonport Capital.
