The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has introduced significant amendments to the Fertilizer Control Order (FCO), providing a major boost for Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants. These changes simplify the handling and utilization of organic fertilizers, making their adoption more efficient.

Key updates include the approval of Fermented Organic Manure (FOM) with 30-70% moisture content, eliminating the need for extensive drying. Additionally, Liquid Fermented Organic Manure (LFOM) is now defined with a 90-97% moisture range, making it more practical for agricultural use.

These regulatory improvements will help streamline processing, encourage wider adoption of FOM and LFOM, and promote sustainable agricultural practices. By reducing logistical and technical hurdles, the amendments strengthen the bioeconomy and support India’s transition toward a cleaner, greener future.
