Future-In-Charge EV Skilling Program Highlights Policy and Workforce Needs
Jul 05, 2025
A training session under the 'Future-In-Charge: Skilling Program for India’s Charging Infrastructure' was held on July 3, 2025, at the TERI Retreat in Gurugram. The initiative is a collaborative effort involving TERI, Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), IIT Delhi, and EVI Technologies.
Ms. Megha Chauhan, Project Associate at TERI’s Transport and Urban Governance Division, delivered a key session titled “EV Skilling and Policy Overview in India.” She emphasized the critical need to skill India’s workforce to meet the demands of a growing electric vehicle (EV) sector. The session also addressed the importance of coherent and comprehensive policies to facilitate the transition towards e-mobility and enhance local EV manufacturing.
The Future-In-Charge program aims to create a skilled ecosystem around EV charging infrastructure, crucial for India’s transition to sustainable mobility. As India pushes for higher EV adoption, the alignment of technical training, supportive regulations, and localized production will be central to achieving national energy and transport goals.
