GAIL, Gujarat Gas, and Baba Deep Singh Green Power Join Hands for New Biogas Project in Punjab
Apr 29, 2025
A Tripartite Agreement was signed at GAIL’s Chandigarh office between Baba Deep Singh Green Power Pvt. Ltd., Gujarat Gas Ltd., and GAIL under the CBG-CGD Synchronisation Scheme. Under this deal, Baba Deep Singh Green Power will produce compressed biogas (CBG), which Gujarat Gas will purchase, and GAIL will help in transporting the gas efficiently.
The new biogas plant is being built in Village Qadian, District Gurdaspur, Punjab. It will generate about 34,000 cubic meters of raw biogas daily, resulting in around 13,600 kilograms of CBG per day. CEID Consultants and Engineering Pvt. Ltd. has been selected for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) work of the project. Their responsibilities include designing, procuring, and building the plant using advanced technology while following environmental and safety standards.
Kanwar Pratap Singh Bajwa, Director of Baba Deep Singh Green Power, highlighted that this project supports India’s goal for cleaner, decentralized energy, especially by using agricultural residues and organic waste. Abhinav Govil from CEID also expressed pride in building this second plant in Gurdaspur, after the successful commissioning of their first biogas project last year.
This collaboration is expected to set new standards for CBG production and contribute meaningfully to India's green energy future.
