GH2 Solar, AHES to Build Green Hydrogen Electrolyser Facility in Madhya Pradesh

Sept 03, 2025

GH2 Solar, in joint venture with South Korea’s Advanced Hydrogen Energy Solutions (AHES), will establish a green hydrogen electrolyser manufacturing facility in Morena district, Madhya Pradesh. The plant, awarded under SECI’s SIGHT programme with a ?157.5 crore PLI subsidy, will start with an annual capacity of 105 MW. The total project investment is pegged at ?400 crore, with the first ?100 crore phase also including a 3 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) assembly line. The facility’s electrolyser capacity is planned to expand to 500 MW by 2030.

Through the JV, advanced alkaline electrolyser technology will be introduced in India, with later diversification into PEM and other systems. GH2 Solar is also partnering with UK-based Rhizome Energy to embed sustainable design and engineering practices, tailoring products for Indian conditions while aligning with India’s vision of becoming a green hydrogen hub.

The project is expected to generate over 300 direct jobs in manufacturing, operations, and R&D, alongside significant indirect employment in supply chains and renewable services. Strategically, the Gwalior facility will help decarbonise high-emission industries such as steel, fertilizers, and refineries, while also serving export markets in Europe and East Asia.
