GUVNL Signs Major Battery Energy Storage Agreements to Boost Renewable Energy Firmness
May 23, 2025
GUVNL (Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited) has marked a significant milestone in India’s clean energy transition by signing Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreements (BESPA) under its BESS Phase IV tender. The agreements were signed with Advait Energy Transitions Limited for 50 MW / 100 MWh capacity and H G Infra Engineering Limited for 250 MW / 500 MWh capacity.
This project is supported by the Government of India’s Viability Gap Funding (VGF) Scheme, designed to promote firm and dispatchable renewable energy integration. The initiative is expected to enhance grid stability and support the growth of renewable power in Gujarat.
GUVNL extended special thanks to its leadership including Shri Jai Prakash Shivahare, IAS (MD), the finance director, the GUVNL management team, and the dedicated energy storage system team. The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission’s (GERC) prompt tariff approval was also acknowledged as a key enabler for fast-tracking the project’s implementation.
This development aligns with India’s broader efforts to strengthen energy storage infrastructure to ensure reliable and flexible renewable power supply.
