India and Denmark Renew MoU to Deepen Clean Energy Collaboration
May 05, 2025
India and Denmark have reaffirmed their commitment to sustainable energy by renewing their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for continued cooperation in the energy sector. The agreement, originally signed in June 2020 and set to expire in 2025, has now been proactively extended to ensure uninterrupted collaboration in advancing clean energy solutions.
The renewed MoU was signed by Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary of the Ministry of Power, and Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, Denmark’s Ambassador to India, in the presence of Union Minister Manohar Lal. It aims to enhance bilateral knowledge exchange and technological cooperation, reinforcing the strong energy ties between the two nations.
Under the new agreement, the partnership has expanded to include advanced areas such as power system modelling, integration of variable renewable energy (VRE), cross-border electricity trading, and the development of EV charging infrastructure. A significant focus is also placed on capacity building through expert interactions, joint training sessions, and study tours.
This collaboration supports India’s broader objective of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070, while also aligning with Denmark’s global leadership in green energy. The renewed MoU is a strategic step in strengthening international partnerships to accelerate the transition to a cleaner, more resilient energy future.
