India’s EV Sales Rise 34% YoY in Q2 2025, Reaching 530,386 Units

Electric vehicle (EV) sales in India surged to 530,386 units in Q2 2025, marking a 34% year-over-year (YoY) growth from 396,719 units. EVs constituted 8% of the 6.55 million total automobile sales in the quarter, as per data from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (Vahan Dashboard). Cumulative EV registrations in India now exceed 6.44 million.
Electric two-wheelers led the growth with 298,690 units sold (56% share). TVS topped this segment with 69,997 units, followed by Bajaj Auto (64,099), Ola (58,534), Ather (40,864), and Hero Motocorp (20,997). Electric three-wheelers captured 36% of the market with 189,114 units, led by Mahindra Last Mile Mobility (19,489) and Bajaj Auto (18,282).
Electric four-wheelers accounted for 7% of the sales at 37,960 units. Tata Motors led with 13,120 units, followed by MG Motor (11,538), Mahindra & Mahindra (8,348), Hyundai (1,884), and BYD India (1,324).
The Ministry of Heavy Industries has launched the application portal for its new EV passenger car manufacturing scheme. Companies must invest Rs4,150 crore within three years to qualify. The PM E-Drive program mandates 100% domestic content for 18 key EV components to be subsidy-eligible in the two-, three-wheeler, and e-bus categories.
