India's first multi-distribution Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant in Kaithal, Haryana, developed by Demeter Agro Energies in partnership with CEID Consultants and Engineering, has commenced commercial gas offtake and injection into the city gas distribution (CGD) network, supported by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL). The facility, with a production capacity of 10 TPD of CBG and 25,000 cubic meters of biogas per day, is currently supplying 4 TPD via MDPE pipelines, with additional capabilities including injection into stainless steel pipelines and bottling via cylinder cascades.

This project marks a significant milestone in India’s bioenergy landscape, integrating advanced pipeline injection technologies with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and gas purity—currently at 97.54%, targeting over 99%. CEID has announced the upcoming launch of India’s first CBG-specific steel pipeline injection system, with the Kaithal facility poised as a model for future projects.

The plant uses eco-friendly feedstock like pressmud and spent wash, and also produces 50 TPD of high-quality fermented organic manure (FOM), promoting regenerative agriculture. This initiative supports key national goals including clean energy transition, rural-urban energy accessibility, and the Swachh Bharat mission by turning waste into wealth. CEID’s previous landmark project in Gujarat and the Kaithal plant together signal India’s growing momentum in scaling up sustainable bioenergy infrastructure.
