India Targets 292 GW Solar Capacity by 2030 Amid Rapid Growth
Apr 02, 2025
India has achieved a major milestone by surpassing 100 GW of installed solar capacity and is now aiming for 292 GW by 2030 under the leadership of Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi. With 297 GW of total renewable energy capacity (including installed and pipeline projects), the nation is rapidly progressing toward its ambitious clean energy goals.
In addition to capacity expansion, India's solar manufacturing sector is set for significant growth, with 60 GW of solar cell production capacity expected soon. This will further reduce import dependency and strengthen domestic supply chains.
These developments reinforce India’s commitment to a sustainable energy future, accelerating its transition towards cleaner, self-reliant, and affordable power solutions. The continued expansion of solar and renewable energy will play a crucial role in meeting climate targets and ensuring energy security.
