Jaiprakash Power Ventures to Set Up 50 MW Solar Plant in Madhya Pradesh
Aug 30, 2025
Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd (JP Power) has announced plans to establish a 50 MW solar PV plant at its existing 500 MW Jaypee Bina Thermal Power Plant site in Bina, Madhya Pradesh, with an estimated investment of INR 300 crore.
The proposal, approved by the company’s Board subject to regulatory and lender clearances, marks JP Power’s foray into solar generation alongside its existing thermal and hydro portfolio. Currently, the company operates three plants totaling 2,220 MW, including the 400 MW Vishnuprayag hydro plant in Uttarakhand, the 500 MW Jaypee Bina thermal unit in Madhya Pradesh, and the 1,320 MW Jaypee Nigrie supercritical thermal plant in Singrauli. Additionally, JP Power runs a 2 MTPA cement grinding unit and the 3.92 MTPA Amelia (North) coal mine, which supports its thermal operations.
The solar project reflects JP Power’s gradual shift toward renewable energy while leveraging existing infrastructure at its Bina site.
