JIRE Secures 300-MW Solar Project from SJVN at Rs3.32/kWh Tariff

May 13, 2025

Jindal India Renewable Energy (JIRE), the renewable energy arm of the BC Jindal Group, announced it has secured a 300 MW solar power project from SJVN Ltd under an inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected tender. The project was won at a tariff of Rs3.32 per kWh and will be developed on a build-own-operate basis.

The project is part of SJVN’s broader 1,200 MW tender, which also encompasses 600 MW/2400 MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS). A 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) will be signed between the public sector enterprise SJVN and JIRE, enabling the sale of power to state utilities and other offtakers.

JIRE must complete the greenfield solar-plus-storage project within 24 months from the date of PPA signing. The development highlights the growing role of integrated renewable energy and storage projects in India’s energy landscape, offering greater grid stability and supporting the country’s 500 GW non-fossil energy target by 2030.

This win marks a significant milestone for JIRE as it continues to expand its clean energy portfolio and strengthens the BC Jindal Group's commitment to sustainable infrastructure development.
